Construction History of Masjid e Nabwi

It is stated that when our beloved Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) has migrated to the city of Madinah, he first stayed at Quba for a total of 14 days. After completing the stay of 14 days, the Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) moved straight to Madinah. When he reached Madinah, he arrived at the place known as Banu Najjar which was situated close to the house of the highly respected companion of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) Abu Ayyub Ansari. At that time the Prophet want to build a Mosque at that place. That piece of land belonged to two orphans at that time. Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.) tried to purchase the land from the two orphans and in order to do so, he asked his beloved companion, Abu Bakkar Siddique, to pay 10 dinars to the orphans and in the exchange of the 10 dinars, get this part of land from them so that a Mosque can be built here.

Foundation of The Mosque

The foundation of Masjid e Nabawi was laid by the Prophet Mohammed (S.A.W.) in the month of Rabi ul Awal in the year 1H. At that time, this Mosque had the dimensions 35x30 meters. Stones were used to laying down the foundation of the Mosque and unbaked bricks were incorporated to construct the walls of the Mosque. Then in order to make the ceiling, trunks of palm trees were used over the walls in order to make the columns and these columns are then filled with the branches chopped from the palm trees.

Doors In The Mosque

Three doors were created at that time. Out of these 3 doors, one was towards the south of the Mosque which was operational initially, but the moment Qibla was changed, this door was made non-operational. Also, at the same time, another door was made operational towards the northern side of the Mosque. One of the remaining 2 doors were constructed towards the western side and it was named Bab e Rahmah and the other one was created towards the Eastern side of the Mosque and was named Bab e Jibreel.

Participation of Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W.)

He even carried stones with own beautiful hands for constructing this Mosque.
